Co-News Editor, The Daily Sundial
Runs news coverage and the weekly newsletter at CSUN's Daily Sundial, after two years editing the Pierce College Roundup through a national Pacemaker finalist year
Daisy Aguinada is a journalism and public relations student at California State University, Northridge, and Co-News Editor and Newsletter Editor at The Daily Sundial, the university’s student newspaper. She copy edits, works with reporters, shapes the paper’s news coverage and writes the weekly newsletter. CalCompute is an argument that has to reach people who have not heard it yet, and that is an editing problem before it is a policy one.
She came to the Sundial in August 2025 as a contributing writer and moved into the news desk in May 2026. Her bylines there run to arts and culture: Iconic Halloween songs to haunt your playlist in October 2025, Halloween and disco collide at VOVE Boogie Nights later that month, OcTUBAfest opens ears to tuba music in November, and Tunes for your heart this Valentine’s Day in February 2026.
Before CSUN she spent two years at the Pierce College Roundup in Woodland Hills, starting as a reporter in August 2024, taking over as online editor in February 2025 and serving as editor in chief from December 2025 to June 2026. She ran the editorial team, copy edited in AP style, laid out the print paper in InDesign, published and managed digital content on WordPress and BLOX, sent the weekly newsletter through Mailchimp, and launched an entertainment section. The Associated Collegiate Press named the Roundup a 2026 Online Pacemaker finalist in the four-year school division, listing her as editor in chief.
Her work outside the newsroom runs along the same line. She has been a Youth Mayor Ambassador for the City of Los Angeles since June 2024, a role that took her to Guangzhou to meet sister-city representatives and local officials. She was a marketing coordinator at More In Music in the first half of 2025, interviewing artists, filming social content and building content calendars, and worked artist check-in at Paak House that October.
Daisy Aguinada holds an associate degree in journalism and behavioral health science from Los Angeles Pierce College, is certified in Google Analytics 4, and is based in Los Angeles.
